Website launch announcement

Just launched your website? Announce it with a video

A screenshot and a link in bio is easy to scroll past. Paste your new link and get 4 short videos made from the site itself, its pages, photos and words, ready to post the same day. There are captions to go with them further down.

Opens on critics calling them the best instant noodles, shows the news landing on a phone, lays out the noodles and sauces from the shop, then closes on restaurant style flavor from your own stove.

From link to video in three steps

  1. Step 1

    Paste your new link

Your home page is a good start. If you rebuilt the whole site, try the page you are proudest of too.

  2. Step 2

    Pick the take you like

You get 4 videos in about 5 minutes, each opening a different way. They show your new pages on a phone and a laptop, so people see the site instead of just hearing about it.

  3. Step 3

    Post it with a caption

Copy a caption from this page, add your link and post. 1 credit downloads the video in full HD with no watermark.

A simple plan for launch week

One post is easy to miss. Spreading a few across the week means more of your customers see that the new site is up.

A few days before
Post a short teaser. Show one part of the new site and say the day it goes live.
Launch day
Post the full video on Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn, and send it to your email list with one link.
The day after
Pin the post to the top of your profile and add the video to your Google listing.
The week after
Share one page at a time, like your menu, your prices or your reviews, each as its own short video.
A month later
Look at which post brought the most visits and make one more like it.

Why a video works better than a screenshot

People stop for movement

A still screenshot looks like every other post. A video that scrolls through your pages and shows them on a phone makes people stop and look.

It shows what changed

Saying you have a new website is one line. Showing the new menu, the booking button and the photos tells people why they should click.

One link, every post

The same take comes as a vertical reel, a square post and a widescreen video, so Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook and your newsletter all get the right size.

How to announce a new website without sounding like an ad

Most launch posts say the same thing: we have a new website, go check it out. People scroll past because nothing tells them what is in it for them.

Lead with what changed for your customers. You can now book online. The full menu is finally there. Prices are on the page. Then show it, and put the link last.

If someone built the site for you, thank them and tag them. Designers often share these posts, which puts your site in front of more people for free.

Then keep going. A launch is one post, but every page on the new site can be its own short video over the next few weeks.

Put your launch video on your Google listing too

Small things that help a launch post

  • Post the vertical take as a Reel and the square one in the feed, so both get seen.
  • Put the new link in your bio, your story and your Google listing on the same day.
  • Tag the person or studio that built the site. They will often share it.
  • In your launch email, use a still from the video as the picture and link it to the post.
  • Make one more video a week later from a single page, like your menu or your prices.
  • If part of the site is still being finished, make the video from a page that is ready.

Who is behind this

I'm Masab Farooque, and I build and run UrlToReel myself. Bug reports, feature requests and support emails all come straight to me.

The reel here is one of the 4 it made from my own site, masabfarooque.com, with nothing changed.

If something in your reels looks wrong, write to me and I'll look at it myself. hello@urltoreel.com

Something else? Ask us directly

How soon can I post after my site goes live?

As soon as the page opens in a browser without a login. Getting 4 videos takes about 5 minutes, so you can post the same hour.

Can I make a teaser before the site is public?

Only if the page opens for anyone without a password. We cannot read pages behind a login, so use a preview link that is open to visitors.

Does it work with Wix, Squarespace, Shopify and WordPress?

Yes. We visit your page the way any visitor would, so it works with any website builder.

Can I change the words in the video?

Yes. Every line, picture and colour, and the music, can be changed in the editor before you download.

What does it cost?

Making and editing the videos is free. A full HD download with no watermark uses 1 credit. Credits are 2 for $5 or 5 for $10 and never expire.

I built the site for a client. Can I make the video for them?

Yes, as long as they are happy for you to promote it. Giving them a launch video with the site is a nice touch, and they will often post it.

Try it on your own site

It's free until you download, and it takes about 5 minutes.
