Why add a video to your Google listing
It is where people choose
People looking at you on Maps are close to deciding. A short video of your place, your work or your menu helps them pick you over the listing next to yours.
New beats old
Many listings show a few photos from years ago. A new video tells people you are open, busy and up to date.
Made from what you have
There is no filming day. The video uses the photos, words and colours already on your website.
What to show in a 30 second video for Google
Think about the person in their car outside, deciding whether to come in. They want to know what it looks like, what you sell and what it costs.
Show your place and your work first. Then one or two things people search for, like your menu, your prices or a service you are known for. End on your name and your web address.
Keep it honest. Google wants the video to show your business, and people notice when a video does not match what they find when they walk in.
Getting the most from it
- Use a page with your best photos. The video can only show what is on the page.
- Add the same video to an update post on your profile, so it shows near the top for a while.
- Post the same take on Instagram and Facebook too. One video, three places.
- Make a new video when your menu, prices or opening hours change.
- Check your profile 2 days later to make sure Google approved it.

How long can a Google Business Profile video be?
Up to 30 seconds, up to 75 MB and at least 720p, according to Google. Our square take is 15 seconds in full HD.
Where do I upload it?
Search for your business on Google or Maps while signed in, click Photos, then Add photos, and choose the video file.
Why is my video not showing yet?
New photos and videos can take 24 to 48 hours to appear. If it says Not approved, Google decided it broke a policy, often because it does not show the business itself.
Which size is best?
Square or vertical. Most people look at listings on their phone, where both fill the screen well.
Do I need a Business Profile first?
Yes, and it needs to be verified. Photos and videos only show on verified profiles.
What does it cost?
Making and editing is free. A full HD download with no watermark uses 1 credit. Credits are 2 for $5 or 5 for $10 and never expire.
Try it on your own site
It's free until you download, and it takes about 5 minutes.
